Weisgard will be of interest to readers who are researching their female ancestors, and Jewish women generally, from Kraków and the surrounding area. The various chapters cover a period of some five centuries, from the early modern period up to the present time. The main aim of the book is to give readers an insight into how Jewish women lived their lives. At the same time, the book explains and illustrates the changing economic, religious and social roles of women, and their increasing impact on the development of the Jewish community.
